I finally cleaned off my work table enough to start another project, thereby totally trashing it again. That's ok, that's the point of having a work table, right? No sense in having one if you don't use it.
I've been collecting beads and jewelry making supplies for about a year now, anticipating all kinds of crafty goodness to come out it! Yesterday, I finally decided to break out the big box of fun...(beads and such)...and I just dove right in. This is what I ended up with...I like it, but am quite sure I broke some fundamental rules of jewelry making, like using the right size wire, etc. This necklace is rather stiff due to the type of wire I used, but once on, it hangs just fine.
The round black piece is a fabric covered piece of chipboard. I layered a beautiful, round bead on top of it and accented the sides with a couple of little black glass beads that were from my mom's collection.
I just knew this would happen, I shared this concern with my buddy, the fabulous Katie Hacker when I took her class at CHA. Now I'm obsessed with making more jewelry. And my work schedule is jammed full right now, there simply isn't time for me to go astray!
This certainly was a fun diversion!
Very unique and very cool!
Kudos,
Sara

Brenda, this is beautiful! I know how much fun you are having. I've been beading for years. Someday I'll get to posting my gems on my blog. There is something about touching, moving and arranging those beads... I can't explain it. Keep it up... have fun!

It's wonderful! ^_^ I like the heavier gauge wire. It fits beautifully with the chunky beads. Also, there's less chance of the wire bending out of shape.

Mom, it's really cute! I love the square beads....are they 'borrowed' from that old necklace with all the different colored squares?
Good luck with your deadlines!

Brenda
Great art comes from being willing to break rules! I'm a believer in that. Love this mixed media design idea. Fabulous.
Cheers,
Margot

Thanks for the support! I had a lot of fun making this! Now earrings and a bracelet, but no worries, I won't wear them all at once! (although I will be tempted).

I feel your excitement!
Brenda, I love your necklace and if it hangs correctly, that's all that matters. How sweet to have your mom's beads on it.
I'm on overload with deadlines too and made me long paper denim and sterling silver earrings yesterday to wear to the rodeo in February! We deserve to make ourselves nice things.
Katie has never said this but I don't think there are any rules so you didn't break any :o)
