But... I make a fantastic potato salad! Here's what you start with:
potatoes, I used reds for this but Yukons are my fav.
1/2 red onion
a couple of green onions
1 red pepper
juice of 1/2 lime
red wine vinegar
fresh basils, red and green
fresh mint, chopped, (a handful)
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
course salt and pepper.
And here's the finished salad. The original recipe is from Rachel Ray, I've made a few changes, adding in the lime and basil. I garnished my salad with red basil and a few cherry tomatoes from our backyard. I also sprinkled a little cut chives on top. mmmmm. I heart potato salad, especially this one!
******QVC has started a blog, "look who's scrapbooking", just a way for people to make a little bit of a personal "connect" and to let customers know about upcoming scrapbooking events. Well, I was invited to join in and sent in my post this last week. I had actually forgotten when it was going live and happened to check in on the Q the day it went up. I guess it had just gone up and there weren't any comments yet...
OK, this sets the stage for what happened next....excuse me while I grab a tissue....
I let a handful of fans, friends/ fellow designers know about the blog and WOW, within about 1/2 hour or so, I had all these amazing comments. I literally was dumbfounded. And being the girl that I am, I was so touched by peoples responses I sat here at my desk with tears in my eyes off and on all afternoon. I'm grateful that QVC included me but what's so important to me is that people who know me either through crafting, product purchases or art and design, stopped, took time out of their busy days and posted comments. I'm very, very grateful.
With that being said...
Being a CHA Designer member and on the Designer Council, I've had the amazing opportunity to meet the most wonderful, creative people who have since become a sort of sisterhood of creatives. I've mentioned several here on my blog, Violette, Kia, Lynne, Jill, Jeanine, Phyllis.....all amazing designers and artists who work in the crafting industry. I'm mentioning this because if you are a designer who is working in the craft industry or wants to, I want to encourage you to join CHA get involved. If you are coming to CHA next week in Chicago, please come to the Designer meeting on Saturday night to learn how you can become a Designer member and benefit from the amazingly supportive group of creatives who are dedicated to bringing a high level of professionalism to the industry. There is some amazing talent within the group and it never ceases to amaze me how, even though in essence we compete with each other for product placement, book deals, etc. , it continues to be a harbor of goodwill. I hope you'll consider joining CHA! And if you want to learn more about working in the industry, be sure to sign up for the following classes:
