My friend Claudine Hellmuth wrote and asked me to help her spread the word about something that I feel is very worthwhile. She wrote the following;
"I am trying to help my friend Bernie Berlin who has a non-profit (501c3) Animal Rescue that she runs all by herself. Last year alone she saved 500 puppies and kittens from death and placed them all in new homes by networking with other shelters.
ANYWAY, we are trying to help her win a grant of $50,000!!! And we are very close, but we need help spreading the word.
To win she needs to most amount of individual $10 donations (each donation must be from a different person to count for the grant) possible before Jan 31st. Her badge is #4 right now in the top ten badges but she needs stay in the top 4 to win the grant. and the other badges are catching up.
She is also giving away a 16x20 artwork to one donor who will be drawn at random. More info on her blog here.

Tim Holtz is giving away a fantastic artpiece also, so you may want to give multiple times to increase your chance of winning! visit Tim Holtz to see w hat he's giving away.
here is the link to Bernie Berlin who runs the shelter. visit Bernie
AND....
I'm also going to join in on the give-a-way. I'm donating a mixed media painting, (yet to be created) of any animal of your choosing! (If you like cows, see below!) Ok, no snakes. I just can't look at snakes, not even if they're created with paint.
*IMPORTANT: when making your donation, please be sure to include your contact information and then enter the name "bpinnick" on the line that says "dedication or gift" this will enter you into the drawing...
they do take paypal which makes giving easy!

I just had to share this picture of my buddy Nugget. He immediately climbed into this shipping box that I layed on the floor. He LOVES the packing peanuts and he sees it as a personal challenge to try to fit into small boxes. We adopted Nugget from our vet where he was abandoned by his owner after she boarded him for 6 long weeks! IN A CAGE...6 long weeks! Well, we brought Nugget home and he and our other cat immediately began a competitive eating contest.
Nuggets favorite things....string, boxes, packing peanuts and meals.
Thanks for telling us about this great organization! I just made my donation. Hope she wins the grant!!
Yeah for the pet children. ;)
cheers,

Hi Brenda, I was so pleased to hear about the help that the kittens and puppies are getting from the shelter. I have recently started as a volunteer at a shelter cleaning the cat pens and feeding them. I adore cats (hence my forum name Crumbleycat) and desperately want another but we are not to sure that our bad tempered puss would tolerate one, we shall have to see. Love the photo of Nuggett, our Crumble likes getting into boxes too

Hello Brenda, Thank you soooooooooooooo much for commenting on my card I made using your 'Initially yours set' I would be delighted if you put it on your blog, would you link it or do you need me to email a photo of it? Would not be a problem. Got my set early before the QVC airing, because crumbleycat posted it on our craft forum - then they set a new introductory price after I had done that, never mind!! having to contact you like this as I could not get my email to reply!! Postmaster kept sending it back!
Love Caroline x
