Babs Wallis sent me this wonderfully funny holiday poem!
AND, I couldn't resist creating an illustration to go along with it!
cheers! BTW, she assured me that really she's pretty much under the table after only two drinks! ; )
Here is Babs' poem:
I set up my craft table next to the tree
With papers and glitter it’s all so pretty
The lights are cosy and to help me along
The stereo’s playing an old Christmas song.
Everything’s ready it’s all looking fine
But before I begin I’ll pour me some wine.
Trimmer and scissors, toppers galore
My wine’s all gone so I’ll just pour some more.
Had some mince pies, now I need a drink
That bottle is empty, twas full up – I think.
Now down to some crafting, times passing by
Oh I’m feeling warm, something’s wrong with my eye
There’s ONE piece of ribbon, I thought there was two
It’s not on the floor – who’s got it, have you?
My paper won’t cut straight but I don’t know why
So I’ll have a quick drink and then I shall try
To cut it again, just snip off this bit
I measured it twice so why won’t it fit.
Now my Christmas cards I still haven’t done
It’s driving me mad it’s supposed to be fun.
The lights on the tree are hurting my head
I’ll have one more drink and then I’ll go to bed.
I’ve just dropped my glitter, it’s gone everywhere
But the way that I feel now I really don’t care.
My heat gun’s too noisy, my glue’s sprung a leak
I can’t use my punches cos I feel too weak.
I had good intentions my cards would be made
But now those intentions are starting to fade
So I’ll sit by my tree and drink Christmas cheer
I shall leave the cards now - and make them next year.
Babs Wallis (Crumbleycat)
I hope that you all had more luck than me
And your Christmas will be the best it can be.
Crafters are special, we all know that’s true
So warm seasons greetings go from me to you.

Lol, what a great poem!

Oh my goodness Brenda what can I say, I had such a wonderful surprise when I went on the forum and saw your message to me but when I came on here I was amazed.
I feel so special and I cannot believe that you have made a page about ME so I had to write you another little poem
Oh Brenda Pinnick
Just look at me
I'm dressed like the angel
On top of the tree
But like many before
I had a big sip
And up on those branches
I then lost my grip.
My wings didn't help
As I came crashing down
The ground getting closer,
Me wearing a frown.
My halo is bent
Fix that in a while,
Still this fallen angel
Is wearing a smile.

And it really is a big smile, I can't begin to tell you how thrilled I am, you have used one of my favourite papers for the tree as well, and how did you know that I have always had a thing about wings? My husband thought it was great too and he said you had got the size of the glass just about right - cheeky.
But seriously Brenda I really am delighted so my thank you comes deep from my heart
Love Babs x
